Ingredients
- 6 frozen whole grain waffles (toasted)
- 12 ounce chicken breakfast sausage links
- 0.25 cup pure maple syrup
- 2 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 2 cup fresh strawberries (sliced)
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add chicken breakfast sausage links and 1 tablespoon water. Cook for 8 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and heated through to an internal temperature of 165°F.
- In a medium bowl, gently toss sliced fresh strawberries and blueberries with fresh lemon juice to make a bright berry salad.
- Toast the frozen whole grain waffles in a toaster or oven at 400°F for 4 minutes until crisp and golden brown.
- In a small microwave-safe dish or small pot, warm pure maple syrup and unsalted butter for 30 seconds until butter is melted.
- Serve two warm waffles per plate alongside browned chicken sausages, generous spoonfuls of fresh berry salad, and warm maple butter drizzled over top.
