Ingredients
- 1 pound beef sirloin (thinly sliced against the grain)
- 2 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (halal certified)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 red bell pepper (medium, thinly sliced)
- 1 green bell pepper (medium, thinly sliced)
- 0.5 red onion (medium, thinly sliced)
- 2 clove garlic (minced)
- 1.5 cup jasmine rice (uncooked)
- 3 cup water
- 1 tablespoon garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 0.25 cup fresh cilantro (chopped)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the beef sirloin, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Mix well and let marinate for at least 5 minutes while you prepare other ingredients.
- Wash the jasmine rice thoroughly. In a rice cooker or medium saucepan, combine the jasmine rice, water, and 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. Cook according to package directions or until all water is absorbed and rice is tender, about 20 minutes.
- While the rice cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until browned. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
- Add the red and green bell peppers and red onion to the same skillet. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until slightly tender-crisp.
- Return the beef to the skillet. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and lime juice. Stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
- Fluff the garlic rice with a fork. Serve the stir-fried peppered beef immediately over the garlic rice. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.
Notes
Marinating the beef while you chop the vegetables ensures maximum flavor in a short amount of time. You can use beef tenderloin for an even more tender result.
