Ingredients
- 1.5 pound ground beef (80/20 lean)
- 0.25 cup BBQ sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.75 teaspoon black pepper (freshly ground)
- 5 hamburger buns
- 5 slice cheddar cheese
- 1 red onion (large, thinly sliced)
- 1 Roma tomato (thinly sliced)
- 5 Romaine lettuces
- 2 can new potatoes (drained and quartered)
- 2 celeries (finely chopped)
- 0.5 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 0.25 cup dill pickle relish
- 1 package mixed green salad
- 0.5 cup Ranch dressing
Instructions
- In a large bowl, gently combine the ground beef, BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, 1 teaspoon of the salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of the black pepper. Form into 5 equally sized patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
- Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-6 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.
- While the burgers cook, prepare the potato salad. In a medium bowl, combine the quartered new potatoes, finely chopped celery, 1/4 cup of the thinly sliced red onion, mayonnaise, yellow mustard, dill pickle relish, 1/2 teaspoon of the salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of the black pepper. Mix gently to combine.
- Lightly toast the hamburger buns, if desired. Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on each bun, then topping with a Romaine lettuce leaf, a Roma tomato slice, and additional thinly sliced red onion.
- Serve the Smoky BBQ Beef Burgers immediately with the Quick Potato Salad and a side of mixed green salad with Ranch dressing.
Notes
Leftover potato salad keeps well for 2-3 days in the refrigerator. Patties can be cooked on an outdoor grill for extra smoky flavor.
