Sloppy Garden Joes

Instructions

  1. Sauté yellow onion, carrot, green bell pepper, and ground turkey or chicken in a large pan over medium heat for 5 minutes.
  2. Add tomato sauce, whole tomatoes, mushrooms, barbecue sauce, and bring to boil.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Uncover and cook for an additional 3 minutes or until thick.
  5. Serve open-faced on toasted or plain whole wheat buns.

Notes

You can also use 8 ounce of fresh mushrooms instead of canned.
