Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 yellow onion (chopped)
- 1 green bell pepper (chopped)
- 1 red bell pepper (chopped)
- 2 clove garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 0.5 teaspoon dried basil
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper (ground)
- 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 ounces, undrained)
- 4 slice garlic bread (store-bought)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
- Add the chopped yellow onion, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes, until vegetables begin to soften.
- Stir in the dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Add the undrained diced tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 3-5 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
- While the skillet dish simmers, toast or bake the garlic bread according to package directions.
- Serve the skillet Italian beef and peppers hot with the garlic bread on the side.
Notes
Feel free to add a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese before serving for extra flavor, if desired. This meal reheats well for quick lunches.
