Ingredients
- 1.25 pound ground beef (90/10 lean)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 0.75 teaspoon salt
- 5 slice cheddar cheese
- 1 head butter lettuce (large head, leaves separated)
- 3 cup shredded cabbage and carrot mix
- 0.25 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 0.5 cup dill pickle slices
- 0.25 cup sliced red onion
- 0.25 cup ketchup
- 0.25 cup mustard
Instructions
- Prepare the quick slaw: In a medium bowl, combine shredded cabbage and carrot mix, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, and Dijon mustard. Season lightly with salt and black pepper. Stir well and set aside.
- Divide ground beef into 5 equal portions. Form each portion into a thin patty, about 1/2-inch thick. Season both sides with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add patties and cook for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer to your desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
- Serve the cheesy burger patties in butter lettuce cups. Top with a spoonful of the quick slaw and any desired additional toppings like dill pickle slices, sliced red onion, ketchup, or mustard.
Notes
Toppings can be prepared ahead of time to make assembly even quicker. Store any leftover burger patties and slaw separately in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
