Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 0.5 yellow onion (diced)
- 2 clove garlic (minced)
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 2 cup chicken broth
- 0.5 cup water
- 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano
- 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 ounce linguine (broken in half)
- 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
- 0.25 cup fresh basil (torn)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey and yellow onion, breaking up the turkey with a spoon. Cook until the turkey is browned and no longer pink, and the onion is softened, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, water, dried oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Add the broken linguine to the pot, ensuring it is mostly submerged in the liquid. Stir well.
- Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, until the pasta is al dente and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
- Remove from heat. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and torn fresh basil leaves, if desired.
Notes
If the pasta seems too dry during cooking, add a splash more broth or water.
