Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground pork
- 1 yellow onion (diced)
- 2 clove garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
- 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
- 0.5 cup water
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 9 tostada shells
- 3 cup romaine lettuce (shredded)
- 2 Roma tomatoes (diced)
- 0.5 cup sour cream
- 0.5 cup salsa
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground pork and diced yellow onion. Cook, breaking up the pork, for 5-7 minutes until pork is browned and onion is softened. Drain any excess grease.
- Stir in minced garlic, chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in 1/2 cup water, along with salt and black pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and cook for 3-5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and flavors to meld.
- While pork simmers, prepare your toppings: shred romaine lettuce and dice Roma tomatoes. Arrange tostada shells on serving plates.
- Spoon the seasoned ground pork evenly over each tostada shell. Top with shredded romaine lettuce and diced Roma tomatoes. Add sour cream and salsa, if desired.
Notes
For extra crispness, briefly warm the tostada shells in a dry skillet or oven before topping. Customize with your favorite tostada toppings like sliced avocado or cheese.
