Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1.5 pound ground beef (85/15 lean)
- 0.5 cup yellow onion (diced)
- 3 clove garlic (minced)
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 0.5 cup water
- 1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 pound linguine pasta
- 1 package Caesar salad kit
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the 1 1/2 pounds ground beef and 1/2 cup diced yellow onion. Cook, breaking up the beef, until browned and onion is softened, about 7-8 minutes.
- Drain any excess fat. Stir in 3 cloves minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes, 1/2 cup water, 1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and let it simmer gently for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, allowing flavors to meld.
- While the sauce simmers, cook 1 pound linguine pasta according to package directions until al dente.
- Prepare 1 bag Caesar salad kit according to package directions.
- Serve the Italian meat sauce over the cooked linguine, alongside the Caesar salad.
