Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey (lean)
- 1 yellow onion (small, finely chopped)
- 0.5 red bell pepper (finely chopped)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 0.5 teaspoon dried basil
- 0.5 teaspoon kosher salt
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 jar marinara sauce (24 ounce, gluten-free, dairy-free)
- 8 ounce gluten-free pasta
- 2 cup broccoli florets
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil for the pasta.
- While water heats, brown the ground turkey in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it apart with a spoon, for 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the yellow onion, red bell pepper, dried oregano, dried basil, kosher salt, and black pepper to the skillet with the turkey. Sauté for 3-5 minutes until the vegetables soften.
- Pour in the marinara sauce and bring to a gentle simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer while the pasta cooks.
- Add the gluten-free pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package directions, about 8-12 minutes. During the last 3-4 minutes of pasta cooking, add the broccoli florets to the pasta water to steam until tender-crisp.
- Drain the pasta and broccoli. Serve the turkey marinara over the pasta and broccoli.
Notes
Look for a marinara sauce that explicitly states it's gluten-free and dairy-free to ensure compliance with dietary needs. Many brands offer compliant options.
