  1. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and diced yellow onion. Cook, breaking up the beef with a spoon, until browned and the onion is softened, about 7-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Stir in the taco seasoning mix and 1/2 cup water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.
  3. Warm the flour tortillas according to package directions (microwave, oven, or skillet).
  4. Serve the seasoned ground beef in the warm tortillas, topped with shredded cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, and optional mild salsa.

Notes

For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the beef with the taco seasoning. Store leftover beef mixture and toppings separately in the refrigerator.
