Ingredients
- 1.5 pound ground beef (90% lean)
- 0.5 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 3 clove garlic (minced)
- 2 teaspoon dried oregano (dried)
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper (ground)
- 2 red bell peppers (large, sliced into strips)
- 2 tablespoon olive oil (extra virgin)
- 6 pita breads (warmed)
- 1 cucumber (sliced)
- 4 ounce feta cheese (crumbled)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F and line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, panko breadcrumbs, minced garlic, dried oregano, 3/4 teaspoon of the kosher salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of the black pepper until just combined, then shape into 18 golf-ball-sized patties.
- Toss sliced red bell peppers on the baking sheet with olive oil, remaining 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, and remaining 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, pushing them toward the edges of the pan.
- Arrange the beef patties in the center of the baking sheet and roast for 18 to 20 minutes until the peppers are tender-crisp and beef patties reach an internal temperature of 160°F.
- Serve the hot patties and roasted peppers with warm pita bread, sliced fresh cucumber, and crumbled feta cheese scattered on top.
Notes
Panko keeps these beef patties juicy without needing eggs as a binder.
