Ingredients
- 2 cup great northern beans (dry)
- 11 cup water
- 0.5 cup onion (chopped)
- 0.5 pound chicken (thawed, cut up, skin removed)
- 4 ounce ham (chopped)
- 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 0.25 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup tomatoes (diced)
- 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
Instructions
- In a medium-sized bowl, soak great northern beans in 3 cups of water overnight.
- Drain the water and rinse great northern beans.
- In a large pot, brown onion, chicken, and ham in vegetable oil over medium to high heat for about 5 minutes.
- Add 8 cups water, great northern beans, and salt to pot.
- Mix well.
- Bring pot to a boil and cook for 5 minutes.
- Lower heat and cook for about 1 hour.
- Stir pot every 15 minutes.
- Add tomatoes and distilled white vinegar to pot.
- Keep cooking over low heat for about 20 minutes.
- Serve hot.
