Instructions

  1. Place the vegetable oil in a large pot or Dutch-oven style pan.
  2. Heat over medium-high.
  3. Add the onion and sauté until golden, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Add the potatoes, yellow split peas, chicken broth, water, onion powder, and poultry seasoning and mix well.
  5. Bring to a boil and then lower the heat to a simmer.
  6. Cook uncovered until the peas are tender, about 45 minutes.
  7. Serve hot.
