Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Press the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate.
  2. Scatter the diced cooked ham and shredded Swiss cheese evenly over the bottom of the pie crust.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the large eggs, heavy cream, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, and ground nutmeg until well combined.
  4. Carefully pour the egg mixture over the ham and cheese in the pie crust.
  5. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown. A knife inserted near the center should come out clean. Let the quiche cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
  6. While the quiche bakes, prepare the mixed green salad. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, Dijon mustard, and red wine vinegar for a simple vinaigrette. Toss with the mixed greens.
  7. Serve warm slices of French Country Quiche with a side of the mixed green salad.

Notes

Quiche is very versatile! You can substitute other cooked proteins like bacon or sausage, or add vegetables like sautéed spinach or mushrooms.
