Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1.25 pound ground turkey
- 4 clove garlic (minced)
- 0.5 yellow onion (medium, chopped)
- 0.25 cup soy sauce
- 0.25 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 0.5 cup chicken broth
- 1.5 cup jasmine rice (uncooked)
- 2 tablespoon fresh cilantro (chopped)
Instructions
- Prepare the jasmine rice according to package directions, starting this step first so it's ready when the turkey is done. Use a microwave rice cooker for speed if desired.
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the minced garlic and chopped yellow onion to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and softened.
- Pour in the soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, black pepper, and chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce slightly thickens.
- Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary. Serve the Filipino Garlic Adobo Turkey Skillet hot over the steamed jasmine rice, garnished with fresh cilantro if desired.
Notes
For a bit more heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic. The ground turkey can be substituted with ground chicken if preferred.
