Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey (lean)
- 1 tablespoon avocado oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1.5 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 0.25 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper (ground)
- 0.5 cup frozen peas (frozen)
- 16 ounce green beans (frozen)
Instructions
- Heat avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey and cook for 5 minutes, breaking it apart, until browned. Drain any excess fat and set turkey aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in all-purpose flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly, to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Stir in onion powder, dried parsley, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer, stirring until the sauce thickens slightly, about 3-4 minutes.
- Return the cooked ground turkey to the skillet. Stir in frozen peas and frozen green beans. Cook for 3-5 minutes, until vegetables are heated through and tender-crisp.
- Serve hot, straight from the skillet.
Notes
Ensure sauce doesn't boil rapidly to avoid curdling the milk. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired.
