  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the lean ground turkey and finely diced yellow onion. Cook, breaking up the turkey with a spoon, until the turkey is browned and the onion is softened, about 7-9 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, yellow mustard, chili powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  4. While the sloppy joe mixture simmers, lightly toast the hamburger buns.
  5. Spoon the Classic Sloppy Joe mixture generously onto the toasted hamburger buns. Serve immediately with potato chips and pickle spears.

Notes

You can add a splash of apple cider vinegar to the sloppy joe sauce for extra tang, or a pinch of red pepper flakes for heat.
