Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1.5 pound chicken sausage (pre-cooked, thinly sliced)
- 0.5 teaspoon ground cumin
- 0.5 teaspoon chili powder
- 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 2 avocados (ripe)
- 2 tablespoon lime juice
- 0.25 cup fresh cilantro (chopped)
- 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 6 chapatis (large, pre-made)
- 2 cup green cabbage (shredded)
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 1/2 pounds thinly sliced chicken sausages. Sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin, 1/2 teaspoon chili powder, and 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder. Cook, stirring occasionally, until sausages are lightly browned and heated through, about 7-9 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- While sausages cook, prepare the spicy avocado mash: In a medium bowl, mash 2 ripe avocados with a fork. Stir in 2 tablespoons lime juice, 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro, and optionally 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Warm 6 large pre-made chapatis or whole wheat tortillas according to package directions (typically 30 seconds in the microwave or briefly in a dry skillet) until soft and pliable.
- To assemble, spread a generous spoonful of Spicy Avocado Mash onto each warm chapati. Top with a portion of the seasoned chicken sausages and 2 cups shredded green cabbage. Roll or fold the chapatis to create wraps.
- Serve the Chapati Sausage Wraps immediately.
Notes
Using pre-cooked sausages and pre-made chapatis significantly reduces preparation time. You can also add a squeeze of extra lime juice to the avocado mash just before serving for an extra zesty kick.
