Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned. Drain any excess grease and set aside.
  2. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the same skillet. Add the diced yellow onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Return the ground beef to the skillet. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and let it gently bubble for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to deepen.
  4. While the sauce is simmering, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package directions until al dente.
  5. Drain the spaghetti and divide among serving bowls. Ladle the Bolognese sauce over the pasta.
  6. In a separate bowl, toss the mixed greens with Italian dressing to create a simple side salad. Serve alongside the Bolognese pasta.

Notes

For quicker cooking, you can use pre-cooked pasta if available. The Bolognese sauce tastes even better the next day and freezes well.
