Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 0.5 cup yellow onion (diced)
- 2 clove garlic (minced)
- 28 ounce crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper (ground)
- 4 ounce quick-cooking spaghetti
- 3 slice garlic bread
Instructions
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil for the pasta. Cook 4 ounces quick-cooking spaghetti according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- While pasta cooks, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 pound ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Add 1/2 cup diced yellow onion and 2 cloves minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the onion is softened.
- Stir in 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Meanwhile, prepare 3 slices store-bought garlic bread according to package directions (typically baked in the oven or toasted for 5-7 minutes).
- Serve the zesty beef marinara over the cooked spaghetti, with the garlic bread on the side.
Notes
Feel free to add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce if you enjoy a little heat. Any leftover sauce can be frozen for a future meal.
